New
Liverpudlian maestro on the block MT JONES, gathers inspiration from 60s and
70s soul greats to modern R&B and jazz, evoking a sound that is both
contemporary and timeless. His deeply soulful and distinctive vocals transport
you straight back to a smoke-filled speak easy whilst bringing a sound that
feels fresh and innovative.
Between stints
working on music regularly in Liverpool and London, Jones has travelled the
world as a musician and penned songs for other artists, making a name for
himself as a gifted and prolific songwriter. His debut releases (‘I Won't Ever
Say Goodbye’ and ‘Feeling Lonely’) marked his place as a new UK artist, firmly
heading places. Receiving immediate and strong support from BBC Introducing
with multiple spins across the network and a featured as a ‘Step up’ artist on
1Xtra, he later released a limited edition 7 inch vinyl; this first physical
offering sold out within weeks.
With further support from the BBC selecting MT Jones to perform as a guest on the well known BBC Radio 4 program Loose Ends and regular plays from the likes of Theo Johnson (BBC 1) Craig Charles (BBC 6) and Trevor Nelson (BBC 2), support for him grew.
Victoria and Geoff met in a recording studio in 1997. From
that moment on, their musical journey took an upward trajectory, connecting
them on a personal level and captivating audiences around the world.
In 2018 their song ‘Wings of Red White & Blue’ won the
British Airways/Nashville Music City song-writing competition, taking them to
record in Nashville, Tennessee and their debut EP ‘Tips In A Jar’ went straight
into the iTunes UK Country Chart at No.1 the following year.
Today, celebrated as a well-loved singer-songwriter duo in
the UK Country and Americana world, they are driven by shared interests,
inspiration, and a love of performance and storytelling through music.
Recent performances include : C2C (Country To Country
Festival at London's O2 Arena); The British Country Music Festival; Cambridge
Folk Festival; Gibson Garage London; Green Note, Camden; Buckle & Boots
Festival; The West Country Music Festival; London's Buck & Bull Saloon;
Foodies Festivals all across the UK; Country on the Coast & Nashville
Calling. They've also appeared overseas, including dates in Nashville, Denver,
and Amsterdam and have shared the bill with acts such as Ward Thomas, Sarah
Darling, Kezia Gill, Chesney Hawkes, Peter Donegan and The Wandering Hearts.
